In November of 1975, the Jackson 5 rode on a float, serving as the grand marshals in Cleveland s annual Christmas parade. The crowd of more than 7,000 was so out-of-control that Jackson 5 manager Bob Jones turned up the lights and threatened to stop the show if the audience didn t calm down. In July of 1973, the Jackson 5 was back for another Public Hall show. The news on that tour was that Tito Jackson, 18, had gotten married. The Jackson 5 sold out the 10,000-seat Public Hall again in 1972. Michaels mom Katherine Jackson told The Plain Dealer s Jane Scott that her son s schoolmates didn t know he was famous until they saw him on The Ed Sullivan Show. His first visit was April 10, 1971, and he needed special permission to appear at Public Hall.
